How Long Does It Take Lice To Show Up

Sixty years ago, January 27, 1945, were opened the gates Auschwitz.

I recall Arendt's thought on why, in her opinion, it was possible that a massacre like that without civil society is rebelling.

"The actions were monstrous, but whoever did it was almost normal, I do monstrous demonic"
This "normal" means that certain attitudes are widely repudiated by the company in place of the event the ordinary citizen, that does not reflect on the content of rules but applies them unconditionally.
An entire society can undergo a complete change of moral standards of its citizens without emitting any judgments about what is happening.

And only the ability of free thought can and should be opposed to what Arendt called "the banality of evil"
